New Democrats intend to delay a controversial Tory bill to regulate addictions services, including any potential supervised drug consumption sites, NDP leader Wab Kinew said Monday.
Bill 33 (The Addictions Services Act) was introduced in the legislature by Janice Morley-Lecomte, minister of mental health and community wellness, last month.
While the Progressive Conservatives have said the bill could open the door to supervised consumption sites, harm reduction advocates say its heavy focus on regulation is unnecessary and think it will do the opposite.
