Provincial officials are warning the Red River is now at major risk of flooding this spring.
Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre said recent precipitation events on the American side of the border have changed what was listed in February as a moderate risk.
But while high water on the Red will lead to the use of the floodway and the opening of the Portage Diversion outside of Portage la Prairie, the risk of flooding in most other Manitoba rivers is low to moderate.
